SHOW UP FOR YOURSELF WITH LOVE. . . . (ALL THE TIME) . (that's all). x, R _______________________________________________ #yogaeverydamnday #selflove #kindness #compassion #healing #yoga #practice #balance #live #love

My body changes every day. It really does. I've been practicing for 5ish years and in that time my body has been bigger and smaller and in between. Every time I show up to practice it's a new experience. People often ask me, especially during workshops, how I don't get discouraged when I am met with my body on my mat - my answer is that it's a part of my process. You can opt to strap your breasts out of the way or modify in other ways or nix certain postures that do more harm than good for you. All ahimsa, All valid. But also consider this - I LOVE having to manually move my belly to twist. Rotating thighs in or out. Shifting my breasts to the side or even struggling to breathe fully because of them. Taking a wider stance because that's what works for me. Being smothered by my own body half the time. But that's perfect for me. It's a part of my experience and practice. It brings my focus inward, it keeps me present, keeps my mind calm. It's not something to be annoyed by, it's just a part of me. And I make it to the end of practice each time having struggled to breathe or move belly out of the way. Your body can limit you but your mind tells the story. Those were and continue to be some of the many the lessons that taught me I didn't need to change this body, I needed to change my mind. Each day I show up and everything has changed, and that's the point. The difference is now I know how to work with instead of against. And I know who I am. And all of it is beautiful ☺️Photo by @cheyennegil

Thank you all for everything you shared on my last post. I appreciate the compassion and support, but I also appreciate those that shared their different opinions too. The important part about listening is that all voices have equal weight- especially if they disagree with our own view. One of the smaller companies that I love and support is @werkshop. I've been standing behind Tina and this company since she was on Kickstarter a few years ago. I admire her hard work and creative designs, plus she is a good person. If you've been waiting to snag a pair now is your chance- their Black Friday Sale is NOW thru Monday! It’s their only sale of the season: 20% OFF Site-Wide with promocode: THX20 😍 also check out their yoga mats at 40% off until midnight tonight PST. 🔥🗽❤️ 📷 @leecherry

I'm not big on morning practice but my YTT instructor insists that we practice every morning for 15 minutes this semester. Asana, pranayama and meditation for 15 minutes before i start my day, sounds simple but its really difficult to break my coffee to desk habit. Begrudgingly, I have started my new routine. Here is a very sleepy yoga squat. HAPPY FRIDAY #malasana #yoga #asana #fatyoga #yogini #curvyyoga #bodypositiveyoga #dailypractice #morningrituals

Hi Yogis! I'm still here. Still practicing. Still teaching! (Catch me on Saturday mornings at @lighthouseyogacenter and at @circleyogadc) I hope your summer has been fulfilling and that you are managing the ever heightening chaos and muck of our world ok (but if you aren't, that's ok too and totally understandable.) I often think about what it means to be a yogi in the real world and my conclusion lately is that it's hard. That the proverbial yogi on the mountaintop has the privilege of living without distractions, without responsibilities, without fear (maybe there's fear of being eaten by a mountain lion - I don't know)...but that isn't the reality for 99% of us. Finding meaning, enlightenment, whatever within the grit, within the complications, within the relative pain of everyday life is *challenging*. Far more challenging than we give ourselves credit for. So, what I'm saying is - give yourselves credit for every ounce of peace and calm you find. For every accomplishment on or off your mat. For every day you just made it through. In other news, I've got some big announcements coming in the next few weeks so keep an eye on this space. And if you haven't signed up for my newsletter, you totally should, since my yearly (ha!) missive is coming soon. In the meantime, you should also sign up for my next Supportive Yoga series at Circle Yoga starting on September 9th. These series fill up fast, so don't lose your spot!
